The mission of the Massachusetts Reading Association is to promote literacy for all learners through professional development, research, publications, and advocacy for the literacy community (MRA Bylaws 2010-2011). In keeping with this mission, the organization produces three publications: Connection (an online newsletter), the Primer calendar, and the Primer journal. MRA considers its publications vital to its mission and goals. Authors, who publish in the Primer calendar and journal, use these peer-reviewed publications as a way to disseminate research, share innovative teaching ideas, and reflect on literacy teaching and learning.
