Write for MRA Publications!
We publish twice a year.
MRA Today - a short, practitioner-focused publication with one-two-page articles related to the selected theme aimed at stimulating conversations around a topic or theme that is current and relevant.
The MRA Beacon: Journal of Literacy Learning and Research- a full-length, peer-reviewed journal with at least 5-6 articles on the selected theme. The MRA Beacon: Journal of Literacy Learning and Research can contain articles written by college/university faculty, by teachers/administrators/specialists in public and private schools, brief book reviews written by MRA Board members, and a Children’s Book Column.
Call for Submissions
MRA Today usually launches in Spring. Look for submission deadlines shared in the late fall as we lead up to the annual conference. Each article is approximately 1000 - 2000 words.
The MRA Beacon: Journal of Literacy Learning and Research is published in the winter each year. The journal theme and call for submission are shared during the summer season. The editors seek two types of submissions:
Featured Articles: These articles are full-length papers, discussing research studies or presenting theoretical arguments. Word count: 5,000 - 6,000
Classroom Connections: These are practitioner-focused articles with evidence-based pedagogies that are applicable to the PK-12 classroom. Word count: 1,500 - 2,500
Please note that your manuscript should be carefully edited before submission and follow the American Psychological Association (APA 7th) publication guidelines. Direct quotes within the manuscript must include a page or paragraph number in the citation. If citations are used within the text, a reference list must be included at the end of the manuscript.
Please include a two-to-three-sentence author biography with your manuscript.
